Why Should You See an Advisor?

I am a freshman and have not decided on a major.

Don't worry! You have many options.  A JSCC advisor can help you explore all of them!

I know my major, but not quite sure what the requirements are.

An advisor can let you know what courses you need to take for your major and help you develop a realistic schedule.

I am having some difficulties in my classes and not sure if I will pass them all.

Don't hesitate to see an advisor about this. He or she can discuss some options with you and tell you about the support programs on campus that can assist you.

I stopped going to class, but I am not sure if the instructor dropped me from the class.

Professors generally do not assume that a student no longer wishes to be in their class. It is your responsibility to properly withdraw/drop. When in doubt, see your advisor.

I have fallen below the required GPA and I received a letter stating that I am on academic probation.

A student is placed on probation for a semester when his or her cumulative GPA falls below the required GPA according to the number of hours attempted.  Please contact your advisor immediately.

I have been at Jeff State for 3 semesters and I need to know how many credit hours I need to graduate or transfer.

Although you may think you have met all the requirements, it is necessary to see your  advisor to ensure that you stay on track.
