App Development Courses Now Offered at Two Campuses!

App Development Image with logoJefferson State is now offering courses at the Jefferson Campus and the Shelby-Hoover Campus designed to teach you how to develop iOS apps with Swift.

The curriculum is designed by Apple engineers and educators and uses Swift, one of the world’s most popular programming languages. Mobile App Development was ranked as one of the hottest jobs to have in 2016 with the job market being predicted to skyrocket by 2020.

In the App Development with Swift courses, students will learn to code and design fully functional apps, gaining critical job skills in software development and information technology. Don’t miss your opportunity to learn to code with curriculum from the company who invented Swift and defined the App Economy.

Concentration Description:

Students can earn a STC after completing three courses taken in sequential order. One course will be offered each semester. Classes for each semester are offered at the Jefferson and Shelby-Hoover Campus.

CIS-157 INTRODUCTION TO APP DEVELOPMENT WITH SWIFT

This introductory one-semester course is designed to help students build a solid foundation in programming fundamentals using Swift as the language. Students get practical experience with the tools, techniques, and concepts needed to build a basic iOS system.

  • Shelby-Hoover Campus – Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.

This is the first of two courses designed to teach specific skills related to app development using Swift language.

  • Shelby-Hoover Campus – Mondays and Wednesdays 4:00 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.

CIS-227 APP DEVELOPMENT WITH SWIFT II

PREREQUISITE: CIS-220 OR Permission of Instructor
This course focuses on building specific features for iOS apps. Students apply their knowledge and skills to developing new apps.

  • Shelby-Hoover Campus – Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.
