Jefferson State Criminal Justice Student Jillian Sanders was recently honored as the University of Montevallo’s 2018 Police Officer of the Year.

“Jill has always graciously gone the extra mile to take care of the students at the University of Montevallo and the citizens of Montevallo,” said University of Montevallo Chief of Police Tim Alexander. “Jill recently opened her home to an elderly resident of Montevallo who was unable to travel out of town with her family, allowing the rest of her family to travel with the knowledge that their loved one was being cared for.”

Sanders joined the UMPD in March 2011 and has spent the majority of her time working the night shift. She has been called upon to work additional shifts to cover for injured co-workers.

“The UMPD would like to thank Officer Sanders for her loyal, dedicated service to the University of Montevallo and citizens of the Montevallo community,” said Chief Alexander.
