As the Criminal Justice
Program Coordinator, I would like to welcome you to JSCC’s Criminal
Justice Website. Since assuming this position in 1996, my goal has been
to develop the best two-year program in the state by enhancing academics
and strengthening relationships with law enforcement, corrections, and
the courts. Whether you are interested in a career degree or
transferring to a bachelor’s program, your experience in criminal
justice at Jefferson State will be worthwhile.
After
receiving my Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of
Alabama at Birmingham, I worked as a Federal Probation Officer for the
Northern District of Alabama for five years. It was a privilege to serve
this court. And, last time I visited, the court still considers me part
of their family which is an honor in and of itself. Prior to probation, I
was employed by the National Institute of Justice & the Police Foundation
as Site Director for the highly publicized federal narcotics grant known
as “Operation Caine Break”. For three years I worked closely with the
Birmingham Police Department with both the narcotics unit and the
community oriented policing initiative. This is where I met my wonderful
husband, Deputy Chief
Ray Tubbs, who was an undercover narcotics officer at the
time. Ray is a graduate of Jefferson State and the FBI National Academy.
I am very proud of so many JSCC graduates who
have established careers with local, state and federal law enforcement as
well as probation, parole, corrections and private investigation and
security. I look forward to helping you achieve your academic and career
goals!
