Jefferson State’s Culinary Explorers  recently dined at Chez Fonfon, one of Alabama’s finest restaurants, and were surprised by a personal greeting and kitchen tour from internationally acclaimed Chef Frank Stitt.

Chef Stitt was such a gracious host and so kind to spend some time with our budding chefs. The Culinary Explorers, however, were not surprised by the delicious cuisine, the attentive service and the warm and beautiful atmosphere.

Congratulations to Chef Stitt and his wonderful staff for the 2016 James Beard nominations for Best Restaurant and Best Pastry Chef, both for Highland’s Bar and Grill and thank you for letting the explorers experience the best in Alabama!

The Culinary Explorers are high school students who participate in an academic year-long program provided by Jefferson State’s Culinary and Hospitality Institute to inspire and educate about careers in the culinary arts.
