Financial Aid Application and Information

If you wish to be considered for any federal aid program, including student loans, Federal Work Study and need base grants, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

There are two ways you can complete the application:

    1. FAFSA on the WEB (www.fafsa.ed.gov). Allow 3-4 weeks processing time by the Federal Processing Center. You will need this code to compete the online form: JSCC code = 001022
    1. Complete a paper copy of the federal application packet and mail it in the envelope provided.  Allow 4-6 weeks processing time by the Federal Processing Center.

What happens after you submit your FAFSA?

    • When JSCC receives the SAR, we will send you our in-house papers for you to complete.
    • You must have applied to JSCC and have your high school transcript, GED scores and certificate or all of the transcripts from any college you may have attended prior to JSCC on file and evaluated by Enrollment Services.
    • The U S Department of Education selects 30%, of all applicants for verification or you may be selected based on JSCC institutions policy.
    •  Those applicants chosen for verification are required to submit (1) the federal verification worksheet, (2) a signed copy of your tax return(s) (parent, student and or spouse, as appropriate) and any other documents deemed necessary by the Financial Aid Office. The verification process must be completed and corrections made when errors are detected. Corrections will be made electronically by the Financial Aid Office.
    • Once your files are complete an award letter will be mailed to you informing you of the aid programs for which you are eligible, your award amount, and what you need to do to receive loans, if applicable.
    • It is the student’s responsibility to check with the Financial Aid Office to make sure their files are complete. Current address and phone numbers need to be on file in the Enrollment Service Office.
