The purpose of the program is to provide firefighters with a program
of instruction leading to a degree. The program is designed with the
objective of increasing firefighter professionalism through continuing
education. Check with your four-year institution for the transferability
of courses in this program. This program is not designed to transfer to
a four-year institution. Students planning to transfer to a four-year
program should notify the advisor upon entry into the program.
Admission
Procedures/Requirements Prior to seeking admission to this program, the
student should meet with an advisor to discuss admission to the program
and develop a plan for satisfying the following program requirements.
Certificate Requirements
The Fire Science Certificate program is designed as an intermediate
recognition step or as a second credential. All course work in the
certificate program will apply to the Associate in Applied Science
Degree Program in Fire Science. Prior to seeking admission to this
program, the student should meet with an advisor and develop a plan for
satisfying the following requirements.
To be eligible for a certificate, students must:
- Complete the following courses
- Have a minimum 2.00 grade point average in Jefferson State
courses
