Admissions Requirements

Prospective international students (F-1 visa) are welcome to apply for admission to Jefferson State Community College. The admission process must be complete prior to the issuance of the SEVIS Form I-20 and before enrolling in classes. In order to complete the admission process, we must receive the following:

Students coming from overseas:

  • Application for Admission - Complete the entire form, including graduation date from high school, date of birth, program of study, and initial all sections required.
     
  • Proof of English Proficiency: TOEFL score – a score of 173 or higher is required for the computer-based test, a score of 500 or higher is required for the written test, and a score of 61 or higher is required for the Internet-based test. Direct TOEFL results must be sent to our institution by indicating #1352 for the school code.
     
  • ECE Evaluation - All secondary/high school certificates must be submitted to Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. We will only accept evaluations coming directly from ECE, not from the student. Only GENERAL Report Evaluations will be accepted for review. Students should follow instructions carefully on the ECE form; attach appropriate documents and the fee upon mailing it to ECE, not to our institution. ECE forms and additional information can be obtained at www.ece.orgNote: If you wish to have international college/university coursework considered for evaluation you must submit your high school records and college/university documents. The type of evaluation required is CATALOG MATCH. Please remember that high school records must be submitted.
     
  • Affidavit of Financial Support and Bank Statement – Proof of adequate financial resources to cover all costs associated with attending Jefferson State must be provided. (See information about costs.)

Transfer students within the U.S.:

If you have attended another U.S. college or university, you are considered a “transfer” student (except if you have attended English as a Second Language Program) and you must submit the following:

  • Application for Admission – See information above.
     
  • Affidavit of Financial Support and Bank Statement  See information above.
     
  • Official Transcript from U.S. Colleges and Universities – Official transcripts must be sent from each college/university you have attended in the U.S.  Only official transcripts sent directly from institutions will be accepted.
     
  • Transfer Clearance Form – The International Advisor at the most recent college/university you have attended in the U.S. must complete this form.
