Students Win Iron City Chef Competition

Jefferson State Culinary Students Joy Phillips (L) and Anna Griffin (second from left) were both winners during the 8th Annual Iron City Chef Competition.

On July 23, culinary teams from restaurants in the greater Birmingham area competed in the 8th Annual Iron City Chef Competition at Jefferson State.

Jefferson State’s own culinary student Joy Phillips earned top honors at the event and second place was awarded to Jefferson State culinary student Anna Griffin.

The Vestavia Rotary Club presents the competition each year at Jefferson State and proceeds from the event support the club’s local and international programs.

This year’s event featured NBC 13 Chief Meteorologist Jerry Tracey and live music was provided by “Sweet Licks.”
