Horizons 1Jefferson State’s Culinary & Hospitality Institute and Beta Lambda Delta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa teamed together with Keith Richards, Founder & CEO of Taziki’s Mediterranean Grill, and the Horizons School to host their annual Healthy Hearts For Horizons Culinary Competition event.

The event took place Friday, April 13th at the Judy M. Merritt Health Science Building at Jefferson State’s Shelby-Hoover Campus.

Hundreds in attendance dined on the tailgate themed appetizers prepared by the Horizon’s students partnered with a Beta Lambda Delta member & Jefferson State Chefs and critiqued by Celebrity Judges Jamiese Price, Dru Cunningham and Stephanie Redman.

Guests were also treated to hot-off-the-grill burger sliders cooked by Keith Richards himself!  The festivities also included a live band, motor home tour, and tailgate games.  Guests were  also able to vote for their favorite appetizer of the evening which was announced during the dinner provided by Taziki’s and served by our Beta Lambda Delta students.

Thanks so much to our Beta Lambda Delta Honor Society Chapter of PTK! Jefferson State is proud of the great work our PTK students do in our community and nation. We wish you the best as you travel this week to the 100th Phi Theta Kappa International Convention.
