Speech Team Wins Awards in Illinois Tournament

The Jefferson State Speech Team competed with 18 other colleges and universities at the Harper College Speech and Debate Tournament on February 17-18 in Palatine, Illinois.

The team placed 4th in Individual Events Sweepstakes and 5th place in Overall Sweepstakes. In addition, team president Christian Holt won Gold in Duo, Gold in Prose, Silver in Program Oral Interpretation, Silver in Informative Speaking, and Bronze in Impromptu Speaking. Holt also won Gold in Individual Sweepstakes and was the highest individual point winner in the tournament.

Dallas Nolen won Gold in Duo, Gold in Prose, Gold in Dramatic Interpretation and Silver in Individual Sweepstakes. In addition, Shay Quraishi took home Silver in Informative Speaking and Silver in After Dinner Speaking, while Hannah King won Silver in Dramatic Interpretation.
