Student Support Services
Student Support Services (SSS) is an educational
support program that provides support services for existing college
programs. The SSS program provides individualized tutoring, counseling and
other special services designed to increase the graduation and retention
rate of students enrolled in the program. Tutorial and professional
services are offered in the following areas:

English, math, biology, chemistry, accounting, and
computer science (other areas when possible)

Personal counseling
-
Career planning
-
Academic advising
-
Referrals
-
Self-paced preview of selected course materials
-
Computers with educational software
-
Priority registration
-
Financial aid referrals
-
Study skills counseling
To qualify for admission to the Student Support
Services Program, a student must fulfill the following criteria:
Items 1, 2 & 3, plus one of items 4, 5 or 6

Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment at Jefferson
State as a degree seeking student.

Complete a Student Support Services Program
application and interview.

Demonstrate academic need; students enrolled in
developmental English, math, or who have placement scores that indicate
the need of a remedial course will usually qualify.

"First generation" college student (neither of the
applicant's parents or legal guardians has earned a four year college
degree).

Demonstrate financial need (students receiving the
Pell Grant, SEOG, etc.)

A student with a certifiable disability may qualify,
if there is a need of special accommodations and one or more of the
above criteria is met.
If accepted into the SSS Program, the student is
expected to make a commitment to the program and attend all scheduled
