In January 2015, the IWGA named the City of Birmingham as Host City for 2021.
The World Games 2021 Birmingham Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit.
The TWG 2021 Birmingham Foundation, (Birmingham Organizing
Committee-BOC), in partnership with the City of Birmingham operates under contract with the IWGA through a local staff witth guidance from a board of directors that is independent from the IWGA Board of Directors.

History of The World Games

The World Games is a multi-disciplinary sport event consisting of non-Olympic sports and disciplines, held every 4 years since 1981, organized by the International World Games Association, under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee. It includes approximately 35 sports, with more than 100 countries participating. The event takes place over 11 days at various venues across the Host City.
