Qualifications for students include:

  • Must be a current resident of the state of Alabama at the time of application
  • Must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each year they are enrolled in classes
  • Must comply with Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as defined here.

To apply for the scholarship, students must visit https://va.alabama.gov/dependents-scholarship/, scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Alabama GI Dependent Scholarship Portal” to create an account. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation that the benefit has been processed and sent to Jefferson State Community College.
