The college received a Workforce grant from the Alabama Community College System for leadership skills training and will utilize AIDT curriculum. The partnership is the result of ASPIRE 2030 committee meetings and feedback from industry professionals about the need for this training in the area.

The trainings will be virtual and open to companies in Chilton, Jefferson, Shelby and St. Clair counties, with a cap of 20 participants for each course.

“Jefferson State is excited to offer easily accessible leadership training to benefit employees and employers in our community,” said Jefferson State President Keith Brown. “This training has been identified as a need in Jefferson, Shelby, Chilton and St. Clair counties and it has been developed in a virtual format in conjunction with industry leaders.”

AIDT Leadership Development programs introduce leaders to a variety of leadership responsibilities that can assist in leading people more successfully. AIDT’s Leadership Skills 1 (covering topics including leading people, communication, teamwork and leading multiple generations), 2 (personality styles, time management, feedback and conflict management), and 3 (emotional intelligence, critical thinking, employee motivation and change management) classes focus on skills that all leaders need to be effective.

AIDT’s Leadership Development training is available for business and industry employees ready for or already in leadership roles.

Leadership Skills 1 is the recommended first course followed by Leadership Skills 2 and ending with Leadership Skills 3. There are AIDT certification tests given after each class.
