Mark Partain – Web Designer for Jefferson State Community College

My office is located on the Shelby-Hoover Campus in Hoover, Alabama. I have been at the college for since 1989, beginning as an Educational Video Specialist. At that time I produced topical educational videos and programmed computers to interactively present the subject matter to students. As a function of a community college’s mission to help educate the community, our department created a series of employee training videos for Bruno’s Foods Inc., Big B Drugs, and Western Supermarkets.

I have been the only Web Designer for the college since the evolution of the internet. We utilize the Word Press platform for web design working with in a template. I also create, graphic images, photographs, and videos on the site, and contribute various posts to the college social media platforms.

I also technically and creatively support and consult for the the college in general as well as Community Relations Department and the community at large.

Other Career Experience

Before joining Jefferson State, I worked with WBRC-TV 6 in Birmingham, Alabama as an Assistant News Producer, National News Writer, Video Editor, Floor Director, and Teleprompter Operator.

I also worked at Columbia State Community College in Columbia, Tennessee as an educational video producer and interactive video programmer for the nursing department. Our unique application of interactive video led us to present at the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1988.

I was a sports videographer in Nashville, Tennessee, following youth and high school football and baseball and an occasional assignment at a demolition derby.

I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Communications from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1986 and a Masters of Arts  in Communications from the University of Montevallo in 1994.
