Jefferson State theater students, along with community actors from the Shelby County and Chilton County, will come together to perform Neil Simon’s “Plaza Suite” at the Shelby-Hoover Campus on April 21 and the Chilton-Clanton Campus on April 23.
“This is the first time in over 15 years the theater department has produced a play,” said Jefferson State Speech Instructor Kevin Townes. “We are extremely excited about reviving student theatre at the college.”
“Plaza Suite” is a comedy set with all acts taking place in the same suite at the Plaza Hotel. Instead of following one set of characters through the play, it follows the hotel suite with different sets of hotel guests.
“It has been a dream of mine to bring student theatre back to the college,” said Townes. “I grateful for faculty members, like Ashley Kitchens and Lesley Warren, who love the theatre and are willing to help in this endeavor.”
Tickets may be purchased on site at either location on the nights of performances. General admission tickets are $5 and student tickets are $3. Both productions begin at 7:00 p.m.
