Students Earn All-Alabama Academic Team Honors

Jefferson State Students Cynthia Smith of Selma and Diamond Smith of Birmingham were named to the All-Alabama Academic Team during the 31st Annual All-Alabama Academic Team Recognition Program on April 10 at the Embassy Suites Birmingham-Hoover.
“The students recognized today are the cream of the crop, epitomizing excellence and strong leadership,” said Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Chancellor Jimmy Baker. “These students expect and deliver the high standards the ACCS is known for.”
Sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the American Association of Community Colleges, the All-Alabama Academic Team recognizes students selected for their academic excellence and intellectual rigor, leadership and service, and a commitment to extending their education beyond the classroom to benefit society. Cynthia maintained a 3.9 grade point average and Diamond maintained a 4.0.
Each student earned a $1,000 scholarship from the Paths for Success Foundation to be used at any public or private college of their choice.
