JSCC Celebrates 20th Anniversary at the St. Clair-Pell City Campus

Jefferson State Community College celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the St. Clair-Pell City Campus on August 24, 2026 during a community breakfast on the campus.

“From the beginning, this community embraced Jefferson State,” said Jefferson State President Keith Brown. “We thank you for welcoming us and all you do for the college.”

Since opening in 2006, the St. Clair-Pell City Campus has served more than 10,000 students, including more than 1,130 dual enrollment students, and produced 514 nursing graduates. The campus has expanded its nursing program and added an additional building to provide training in welding and other manufacturing programs.

“Community partners, Pell City leaders, the St. Clair Economic Development Council, and Judy Merritt and the college, all came together,” said Jefferson State Dean of Economic Development (and former Pell City Mayor) Guin Robinson. “The vision was never about a building, but it was to create opportunities that did not exist close to home. Jefferson State has become integral to the community, and its success belongs to the entire community.”

During the breakfast, Pell City Mayor Bill Pruitt presented President Brown and Dean Robinson with a resolution commemorating the 20th anniversary and success of the college.

Jefferson State is “a critical part of educating and preparing our people to be productive citizens,” said Retired State Senator Dr. Jim McClendon. “I take a lot of pride in this institution and what they have done for our community.”

“Jefferson State allowed students to get a college education and training in their own community, and it has made a tremendous difference in the lives of students and their families,” said Robinson. “Our responsibility is to build on 20 years and continue. Our greatest days are ahead.”
