Anonymous audience listens to the speech of a lecturer in a conference hall

Jefferson State’s annual Red Mountain Reading Series this year will explore “Poetry and Process.”

The Red Mountain Reading Series offers free public readings by dynamic and vibrant authors working across the literary arts.

There are several opportunities in spring 2024 to hear from wonderful authors, performers, and community members. All events are free and open to students, faculty, staff, and community members.

An Evening of Performance

  • 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31
  • Shelby-Hoover Campus, Judy Merritt Health Sciences Building, Room 129

Kwoya Fagin Maples

  • 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14
  • St. Clair-Pell City Campus, Room 101

Ashley Jones, Poet Laureate

  • 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12
  • Jefferson Campus, Allen Library

Laura Secord

  • 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 11
  • Chilton-Clanton Campus, Room 102
  • After the reading, there will be a follow-up craft workshop at 3 p.m.
