LGBTQ 101 Workshop 2020

Thank you for attending the second annual Safe Zone training at Jefferson State!

The Safe Zone Event trained faculty and staff from high schools around the state to assist students who are being bullied because they identify as part of the LGBTQ community. In conjunction with Jefferson State Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the Greater Birmingham Community Foundation LGBTQ Fund, the Magic City Acceptance Center, provided an LGBTQ 101 and Allyship Workshop on November 13, 2020. Topics included definitions, terminology, best practices for working effectively with the LGBTQ community, allyship, and a brief overview of local and national LGBTQ resources like the The Trevor Project.
