Sixth Class Completes Lineworker Training Program

The sixth class of graduates of Jefferson State’s Lineworker Training program were recognized at a ceremony on Monday, March 20, at the college’s Jefferson Campus.

The 10-week fast-track program is offered in partnership with Alabama Power and other utility companies.

Scholarships were provided by Alabama Power and the Jefferson State Foundation through the college’s Capital Campaign.

The graduates included:

  • Cesar Calderon
  • Luis Camarillo
  • Macey Carr
  • Kelvin Cid
  • Jerrod Datcher
  • Brody Gibson
  • Cade Minor
  • Jackson Moon
  • Blayne Scott

The graduates have interviews this week with U-Tec, Badger Daylight, and Alabama Power this week, said Leah Bigbee, director of Jefferson State’s Center for Workforce Education.

David Tillman was the instructor for the class.

The program teaches lineworker skills, OSHA 10 safety, Commercial Drivers License requirements and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
