Mission Statement & Purpose

The Queer Straight Alliance was founded in 2014 in response to an acute need for a safe space on campus where LGBTQ+ students could be themselves. Through QSA, we give back to our LGBTQ+ community by volunteering at local non-profits and by showing support and solidarity to our fellow peers.

Organization Description

QSA provides a fun, safe environment for students to talk about their lives and the challenges they face as members of and advocates for Jeff State’s growing LGBTQ+ community. The organization also provides students with knowledge about affirming resources in the Birmingham area and with opportunities to volunteer and/or participate in campus events and local non-profit organizations, like the Magic City Acceptance Center.
