Scholarships

Jefferson State scholarships are open to students entering as freshman, currently enrolled students and to students who transfer to other colleges and universities. Either the scholarship donor or the Student Assistance and Scholarship Committee establish the selection criteria.

Current Jefferson State Students

Pioneer Scholarship

Deadline: June 1, 2021

Tuition and fees scholarship for up to 15 hours a semester for 6 semesters

The applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Completed 24 or more credit hours at Jefferson State as a regular student
  • Enroll as a full-time student to be eligible

High School Students

Presidential Honors Scholarship

Deadline: April 1, 2021

Tuition and fees scholarship for up to 15 hours a semester for 6 semesters

The applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher at the end of their 1st semester senior year
  • Have a 22 or higher composite ACT score. ACT scores must be on file with Admissions by the March 1st deadline
  • Applied for admission to Jefferson State for Fall 2021 prior to submitting the scholarship application
  • Submit a copy of their high school transcripts showing their grades and GPA after the first semester of their senior year

Academic Excellence Scholarship

Awarded to all students who meet the criteria and apply by June 1, 2021, as long as scholarship funds are available.

Deadline: June 1, 2021

  • Students with a composite ACT score of 25 or higher will receive a scholarship for 9 credit hours per semester for up to 6 semesters.
  • Students with a composite ACT score of 22-24 will receive a scholarship for 6 credit hours per semester for up to 6 semesters.

The applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher at the end of their 1st semester of senior year
  • Have a 22 or higher composite ACT score. ACT scores must be on file with Admissions by the June 1st deadline
  • Applied for admission to Jefferson State for Fall 2021 prior to submitting the scholarship application
  • Submit a copy of their high school transcripts showing their grades and GPA after the first semester of their senior year

Dual Enrollment Achievement Scholarship

Deadline: June 1, 2021

Tuition and fees scholarship for up to 6 hours a semester for 6 semesters

The applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher at the end of their 1st semester of senior year, including JSCC coursework
  • Have 20 or higher composite ACT score. ACT scores must be on file with Admissions by the June 1st deadline
  • Successfully completed 6 or more credit hours in the JSCC Dual Enrollment program
  • Applied for admission to Jefferson State for Fall 2021 prior to submitting the scholarship application
  • Submit a copy of their high school transcripts showing their grades and GPA after the first semester of their senior year

CTE Scholarship for Dual Enrollment Students

Priority Deadline: June 1, 2021

  • Must be admitted to the College’s Dual Enrollment program to apply
  • Must be enrolled in one of the following Career and Technical Education programs:
    • Child Development
    • Computer Information Systems
    • Emergency Medical Services (seniors only)
    • Manufacturing Technology

Transfer Scholarships

University of Alabama Transfer Presidential Scholarship

Outgoing/Transfer Students

The University of Alabama is seeking nominations for the Presidential Transfer Scholarship to be provided to outstanding Jefferson State Community College transfer students for the 2021-2022 academic year.  The scholarship will cover the cost of tuition for four semesters, provided that the student maintains a 3.0 GPA.  A recipient will be selected from each campus location.

To be considered, students must meet the following criteria:

  1. You must have earned an associate degree from Jefferson State Community College (a letter must be provided from the graduation office, indicating graduation date)
  2. Complete the Jefferson State Community College Transfer Scholarship Packet, which includes the application, resume, transcript, essay, and recommendation.
  3. You must have 3.5 GPA or higher.
  4. You must be admitted to the University of Alabama at the time the scholarship application is submitted.
  5. You cannot be a former degree seeking student from UA or any other 4-year institution.
    A complete JSCC Transfer Scholarship Packet must be submitted by February 1, 2021.

UAB Presidential Scholarships

Outgoing/Transfer Students

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking nominations for the UAB Presidential Scholarship to begin the 2020-2021 academic year. The scholarship will cover the cost of tuition and academic related fees for two years (four semesters) and is renewable annually for two years if the student maintains a 3.0 or higher GPA.

To apply applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. The student must apply and be admitted as a transfer student to UAB for the upcoming fall term by March 1st. High school students who are enrolled in a fast-track or dual-enrollment program are not eligible.
  2. The student must have earned a non-technical associate’s degree at the end of the spring semester before the fall semester in which they enroll (an official transcript must be provided, indicating graduation date).
  3. The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (non-transferrable coursework will not be calculated in the GPA).
  4. The student cannot have any 4-year institution credit. (exception: courses taken while enrolled in high school)
  5. The student cannot be a former degree-seeking student from UAB.
  6. The student must be an Alabama resident.
  7. The student must be willing to assist with transfer recruitment events and efforts as a transfer ambassador for UAB. (estimate: 2-3 hours a week, event examples: tours, Community College visits, Transfer UAB Day)
  8. A complete JSCC Transfer Scholarship Packet must be submitted by February 12th, 2021.

Auburn UniversityEver to Conquer Scholarship

Awarded: Beginning in December
Amount: $10,000 over two years ($5,000 per year) for incoming transfer students

Ever to Conquer Scholarships are awarded competitively among eligible incoming Alabama residents who complete the scholarship application through AUSOM by 4:45 p.m. CST on the deadline, based on available funding.  Consideration does not guarantee a scholarship will be awarded. (checklist)

  • Incoming transfer students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative transfer GPA.
  • Priority consideration will be given to students who qualify for the Federal Pell Grant by the deadline through completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)*.  Additional consideration will be given to students who are first-generation college students.
  • Students must be an undergraduate student pursuing a first degree.

*The FAFSA is the only form a student is required to complete to be considered for student assistance from any of the Title IV, HEA programs except for information needed to ensure the student’s eligibility for such assistance (e.g., information needed to complete verification or to demonstrate compliance with the student eligibility provisions of the HEA and the regulations). Additional information, if requested, will be listed on the student’s AU Access My Finances page after we receive the results of the FAFSA. Auburn University – Provost Leadership Undergraduate Scholarship (PLUS-T)

Awarded: Beginning in December
Amount: $4,000 over two years ($2,000 per year) for incoming transfer students

The Provost Leadership Undergraduate Scholarship for incoming transfer students (PLUS-T) is awarded to eligible incoming transfer students.

PLUS-T scholarships are awarded among eligible incoming students who complete the scholarship application through AUSOM by 4:45 p.m. CST on the deadline, including a 300-400 word diversity essay.  Recipients are selected by the Provost Leadership Undergraduate Scholarship Committee.   • Incoming transfer students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative transfer GPA for PLUS-T.
  • Priority consideration will be given to students who are first-generation college students, demonstrate financial need, are Alabama residents, and have a diverse background as determined by the goals of the Auburn University Strategic Plan. Additional consideration will be given to students who qualify for the Federal Pell Grant by the deadline through completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)*,
  • Students must be an undergraduate student pursuing a first degree.
