JSCC's New Workforce Education Center Opens

Ribbon Cutting rsJefferson State Community College held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 26 for the opening of a new Workforce Education Center at the college’s campus in Birmingham. The Center’s grand opening was part of the college’s annual Pioneer Day festivities, which celebrated the college’s 60th anniversary.

The new Center will expand training opportunities and meet the high-demand workforce needs of Central Alabama by offering skilled training in essential fields like lineworker, HVAC, multi-craft, and electrical. The facility features flexible laboratory and classroom spaces that can be adapted for a wide range of education programs.

“The Workforce Education Center is more than a building; it’s a dynamic hub for opportunity in skilled trades,” said Jefferson State Dean of Workforce Development Leah Bigbee. “Its versatile design ensures we can adapt quickly to the needs of our business partners while providing our students with the best possible path to a rewarding career.”

Jefferson State’s Workforce Education fast-track skills training is designed to quickly train individuals for immediate employment. The full portfolio of non-credit training covers healthcare, IT, manufacturing, craft training, and business sectors and is ever evolving to accommodate the needs of employers in the state of Alabama.
