Registered Nursing Program
The Registered Nursing Program at Jefferson State Community College is a two-year associate degree program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN) and approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
Nursing program graduates are eligible to apply to take (NCLEX-RN) and are employed in area clinical facilities as a beginning associate degree registered nurse upon successful completion of the licensure examination.
The Nursing program combines general education and nursing courses in sequence that allows the student to develop basic skills to the practice of nursing. Nursing and general education courses are taught at all four Jefferson State Campuses.
Program Entrance Requirements
Students are admitted to the RN program every semester. Applications are evaluated on GPA, selected coursework, mathematical scores, and ACT scores. Admission will be on ranking scores. See the website for more information and updates at www.jeffersonstate.edu/nursing.

All applications must be in by 4:30 p.m. on the deadline dates listed below:
Starting fall 2024 for the 2025 program deadlines
- Fall 2025: May 10, 2025
- Spring 2025: September 27, 2024
- Summer 2025: February 23, 2025
Deadlines for application submission that fall on weekends will extend to the next business day. The Evening Track, St. Clair-Pell City Campus and Chilton-Clanton Campus Programs accept applications for the fall semester only.
