Application Process - VET

If you wish to apply for admission into the Jefferson State Community College Veterinary Technology Program, you should proceed with the following steps:

1. Apply to Jefferson State Community College

Please contact Enrollment Services for guidelines on submitting official transcripts.

Applicants must meet the minimum general admission requirements for Jefferson State before being considered for acceptance into the Veterinary Technology Program.

2. Complete the following courses with a grade of “C” or Higher

  • BIO 103 Principles of Biology – 4 hrs
  • ENG 101 English Composition – 3 hrs
  • AHUM Humanities/Fine Arts Elective – 3 hrs
  • MTH 100 or Higher – 3 hrs  (Mathematical Applications (MTH 116) preferred
  • CIS Computer Elective – 3 hrs  (Microcomputer Applications (CIS 146) preferred
  • SPH Speech Elective – 3 hrs  (English 102 may be substituted for Speech Elective)
  • ASOC Elective – 3 hrs  (General Psychology (PSY 200) preferred

3. Accumulate a minimum of 360 hours of Veterinary Clinical Experience

4. VETERINARY TECHNOLOGY ONLINE APPLICATION

Applications are open during the following dates:

  • April 1 – May 31, to start the following Fall
  • August 1 – September 30, to start the following Spring

Required Documents

  • A Statement of Interest explaining why you are choosing this field of study.
  • Two letters of recommendation (one of which must be from a veterinarian and one from an educator or supervisor)
  • Clinical Veterinary Experience Verification Form – Signed by Veterinarian Packet Completed

Note: if changes occur in your information after submitting your application to the Veterinary Technology Program, contact the program so that your file may be updated.

Applications do not roll over for subsequent semesters, so if a student is not accepted or does not start the program, students must re-apply for the next semester they are interested in attending.
