Moms Graduate BOLD Welding Program

Single-mom welder graduation in LWH 300Jefferson State recently celebrated the graduation of seven moms in the Building Opportunities for Lasting Development (BOLD) Women in Welding Program.

The program, a partnership between the City of Birmingham and Jefferson State, provided classroom instruction, hands-on welding, and the knowledge and skills for in-demand career opportunities.

Graduates, their families, and community guests heard congratulatory remarks from the City of Birmingham’s Director of Innovation and Economic Opportunity Josh Carpenter, the program’s Deputy Director of Talent Development Rachel Harmon, Jefferson State’s Associate Dean of Economic Development Guin Robinson and Jefferson State Career Coach Christine McLain. Presenting the graduation certificates were Jefferson State’s Workforce Education Director Kay Potter and Jefferson State Welding Instructor Danny Taylor.

Jefferson State and the City of Birmingham would like to congratulate these graduates: Kiara Barnes, Sharon Davis, Ra’Shoda Edmonds, Ranesia Forrest, Nikki Galbreath, Delores Hebert, and Francesca Myers.
