Calling on all members of the Jeff State community to support Pioneer Con on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Health Sciences Building of the Shelby-Hoover Campus. Pioneer Con is our homage to Comic Con, and it’s a chance to indulge your love of science fiction and fantasy in support of this year’s theme, “Seeking Freedom.”
In advance of the event, please consider submitting a proposal for roundtable presentations on any aspect of the theme, for instance, but not limited to:

Harry Potter: The Gateway Drug to Literacy The Hero’s Journey in SF/Fantasy
Cult Fandoms Introduction to Anime
Tips for Successful Cosplay Best and Worst Film Re-Makes
Students are especially encouraged to present papers, form discussion panels, or serve as panelists, and proposals should be submitted by noon on September 25 to Jamie King, [email protected]. Proposals will be reviewed and participants notified via email by September 29. Student and faculty presenters will join our keynote presenter, author and illustrator Brian Parker, in this celebration of imagination, so make plans to attend. Admission is free.
