15 to finish graphic 1Nationally only about 5% of students finish their Associate’s Degree within two years. This happens because students start their educational career taking too few credits. The average Associate’s Degree is 60 hours. In order to complete the degree on time students must take 30 credit hours per year. Because Community College students have more constraints on their lives than a traditional student we recommend 30 credit hours per year in various formats.

• Fall Term – 15 credits
• Spring Term – 15 credits
• Summer Term – 0 credits
or
• Fall Term – 12 credits
• Spring Term – 12 credits
• Summer Term – 6 credits
or
• Fall Term – 15 credits
• Spring Term – 12 credits
• Summer Term – 3 credits

However students choose to split it up, taking 30 credit hours per year increases chances of success. Students who take 15 credit hours per term have increased odds of making a higher GPA, decreased odds of dropping out of school, and start working and earning income faster than their counterparts who take a smaller credit hour load.
