This is the first in a six-course sequence which provides practical experience in the production and performance of a dramatic presentation with assignments in scenery, lighting, props, choreography, sound, costumes, make-up, publicity, acting, directing, and other aspects of theater production. THR 120 Theater Appreciation
3 semester hours
Prerequisite: None
Core Area II (Arts), THUM TART AHUM
This course is designed to increase appreciation of contemporary theater. Emphasis is given to the theater as an art form through the study of history and theory of drama and the contributions of playwright, actor, director, designer and technician to modern media. Attendance at theater production may be required. (F, Sp, Su)

THR 131 Acting Techniques I
3 semester hours
Prerequisite: None AHUM
This is the first of a two-course sequence in which the student will focus on the development of the body and voice as the performing instruments in acting. Emphasis is placed on pantomime, improvisation, acting exercises, and building characterizations in short acting scenes. (F)

This course is designed to cover the fundamentals of directing. Instruction will include lectures, demonstration, written and oral analysis of scripts, performances, and classroom participation. (on demand)
