JSCC Debate Teams Earns Top Honors at Tournament

The Jefferson State Debate Team won Top Community College at the Fayetteville Fisticuffs Virtual Debate Tournament, hosted by The University of Arkansas on March 5-6. Debaters Brook McMillan, Jacob Davidson, Kylie Jordan, Emmy Rains and alumnus Joseph Honeycutt all contributed to the win.

After six preliminary rounds of IPDA debate, Jordan and Rains advanced to octofinals in the novice division.  Team Captain Jacob Davidson made it all the way to the final round in the junior varsity division and placed 2nd in the tournament. In addition, Rains was awarded 3rd place debate speaker in novice, while Davidson won 4th place debate speaker in junior varsity. Team members Blake Denney, Adrienne Lunceford, Cameron Hodge, Ruth Dismukes, and Jacob Goldberg provided research and judging assistance.
