Jefferson State’s Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society Chapter made a strong showing recently at their international convention. The convention, held March 29 through April 1, was held in Louisville, Kentucky.

Member Batrice Brown received a certificate and cash prize for her 3rd place win in the literary analysis category of the national writing competition. Her essay on Kurt Vonnegut’s “Harrison Bergeron” will be published in SKD’s national literary magazine, Hedera helix.

Jefferson Campus Sponsor Katie Boyer made a presentation as part of a roundtable of SKD sponsors entitled “Stuck in a Rut? (Re)Vitalize Your Chapter.” Shelby Campus Captain Chelsea Jones and Clanton Campus Captain Anna Taylor participated in a national student meeting, offering suggestions for future activities. Pell City Campus Sponsor Jamie King, Jefferson Campus Captain Mary Yahn, and member Sharalyn Blackmon also attended panel presentations and keynote speaker events.
