Jefferson State freshman golfer Adonis LeBlue earns top honors at the Coastal Alabama Community College Invitational Golf Tournament held February 17-18.
Adonis is a freshman from Las Vegas, Nevada, who finished with a two-day total of 2 under (142) to win the low medalist honor.
After a strong Fall season, LeBlue began the Spring season with a bang, firing a first round 3 under to lead the tournament by 1.
“The 69 felt great today,” said LeBlue after his first round. “Overall I played pretty well. I am looking forward to coming out tomorrow and following it up with another solid round.”
He led the tournament by one stroke heading into the final round. His teammates also played well, shooting a team tournament low round of 292, putting the team in first place heading into the final round.
After an early charge by some of the other contenders, Adonis began to pull away. He went on to shoot a 1 over 73 in the final round, putting distance between himself and the field leading to a three stroke victory.
“I am happy about winning Jefferson State’s first ever low medalist award, but I left six to nine shots out there or this could have been a really special round,” said LeBlue.
Adonis’ father flew in from Las Vegas for the weekend to watch him compete. He made the trip worth it for his father. “It was really cool having my father here to watch my first collegiate victory.”
The men’s golf team will compete March 2-3 at Burningtree Country Club.
