Diane L. Woodall was born in Brooklyn, New York and began attending Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham, Alabama in 1966. In 1968, she was selected as Jefferson State’s Miss Pioneer and received the James Allen Award as college’s most outstanding student.

Woodall earned a bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State in 1970 and graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s medical school in 1975. Since completing her residency training in 1981, she was board certified and specialized in neonatology throughout her career. She has served as a professor at numerous colleges and has been published in numerous medical journals.

“I truly feel if it had not been for Jefferson State, I would not be a doctor because I would not have been able to go to college,” said Jefferson State Alumna Diane Woodall. “Thank you, Jefferson State, for opening that door of opportunity for me.”
