Jefferson State Celebrates Black History

Jefferson State President Keith Brown welcomes Sheriff Mark Pettway (R) as the keynote speaker during the college’s Black History Celebration.

Jefferson State’s Black History Celebrations culminated with a special program on February 27 featuring Jefferson County Sheriff and JSCC Alumnus Mark Pettway, and a performance by the Jefferson State Singers.

Hooper City First Baptist Church Pastor and Jefferson State’s own Larry Holman gave the invocation. Attendees were also were treated to a presentation on important historical facts in black history (below) and refreshments from JSCC’s Culinary and Hospitality program.

Jefferson State’s Pat Harris gave appreciation to Jefferson State’s Black History Committee for their work and dedication to this year’s celebrations.
