Jefferson State’s Pioneer Pantry, in collaboration with the Student Nurses Association, will host a simultaneous food distribution and donation drive this Saturday, November 21st, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Pioneer Pantry customers can pick up pre-packaged food bags in front of the Fitzgerald Student Center on the Jefferson Campus (2601 Carson Road Birmingham, AL 35215).
- JSCC faculty, students, and staff, as well as community members, can donate food (nonperishables, canned and dried goods, etc.), household items (cleaning supplies, paper products, etc.), and hygiene products (soap, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.) to those in need by dropping the items off on the opposite side of the street, in front of the back side of the Allen Library building. There are also donation boxes in the foyers of the Fitzgerald Student Center and Bethune Deramus Hall if you would prefer to drop any donated items off at another time.
First-time Pioneer Pantry customers who have not received food bags before should register in advance to pick up food bags by clicking this link: https://forms.gle/ogg4vQ4JyqeweCrVA. Existing customers who have received bags at past distributions should not register again; they just need to contact Madison MeGahee by text (205-234-4032) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and inform her whether they plan to pick up their bags on Thursday, Nov. 19th or Saturday, Nov. 21st.
As always, the number of people in a customer’s household will determine the number of food bags he or she receives. Please note that all customers and donors must wear face coverings and remain inside their vehicles during the distribution and drop-off; volunteers wearing masks and gloves will place food bags and retrieve donated items from the back seats or trunks of vehicles.
