Wingspan is seeking submissions! ​Wingspan, Jef Wingspan is seeking submissions! ​Wingspan, Jefferson State's literary and arts magazine, is seeking submissions through November 1 for the 2020 issue. We accept submissions from students, faculty, staff, and community members. Written work should be submitted in MS Word document format (no PDFs, please), and art/photography should be submitted as jpeg files. Full submission guidelines and an interactive submission form can be found on the JSCC Library Website at: https://library.jeffersonstate.edu/WingspanPioneerCon. Note that work can be submitted for simultaneous consideration in Wingspan, Pioneer Con writing contests, and the Pioneer Con student art show. Wingspan's mission is to bring together a range of poetry, prose, art and photography to produce a magazine that reflects the work and interests of our college and the communities we serve. We encourage everyone who has an interest in literature and the arts to send us work. Each person whose work is chosen to appear in the magazine is given a free copy of the bound, printed version and invited to present at the Spring semester reading, following the publication. Call for Pioneer Con Proposals Pioneer Con, Jeffe Call for Pioneer Con Proposals Pioneer Con, Jefferson State's half comic con, half academic conference, seeks presentation proposals for its fifth annual event to be held online Thursday, October 15. Proposals may be of the following types: Roundtable: Speakers present a shared point of view and lead audience discussion. Proposals are submitted by a group. Presentations will be given on event date, live via Zoom. Panel: Speakers offer individual points of view and are grouped with others discussing similar topics. Proposals are submitted by individuals. Presentations will be pre-recorded video hosted on Pioneer Con website. Lecture: (Reserved for faculty or off-campus professionals). Presentation will be 45-60 minutes. Event planners will reach out to discuss whether presentation will be live via Zoom or pre-recorded. Presentations may address almost any topic related to science fiction and/or fantasy movies, television, literature or art. Some possibilities include: history of witches/wizards, AI or holographic technology, alchemy or science, anime, horror, weird fiction. Presenters receive a free Pioneer Con t-shirt. Although Sigma Kappa Delta is the English honor society, we welcome proposals from any discipline. To make a proposal, submit a 100-200 word description of your topic. Tell us as much as possible about what you want to cover and whether you are an individual or a group. Remember that your presentation must fit comfortably in a 45-minute session. If you plan to have more than one presenter, provide the name of each participant. Up to five people may participate as presenters in a session. Submit your proposal by 12 noon on Wednesday, September 23 through the JSCC libraries: https://library.jeffersonstate.edu/WingspanPioneerCon. We'll make final decisions and inform selected participants through email by September 25.
