The Red Mountain Reading Series presents poet Gary Dop on Monday, April 9. He will host a workshop at 7:45 a.m. at the Chilton-Clanton campus and a reading from his collection Father, Child, Water at 7:00 p.m. at the Shelby-Hoover campus in the Health Sciences Building multipurpose room. Both events are free and open to the public. A reception and book-signing will follow the reading.
Gary Dop is a poet, playwright, and performer who lives in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains with his wife and three daughters. Dop is English professor and the M.F.A. Director at Randolph College. Dop’s poems, essays, and stories have appeared in the Georgia Review, North American Review, Prairie Schooner, and Washington Post. Dop is the author of the poetry collections Father, Child, Water (2015) and the forthcoming Earth Never Settles (2020), both with Red Hen Press. As an actor and poet who values performance, Gary has entertained audiences at university and community events throughout the country. He has appeared in a short film, a few commercials, and he was named Top Comic in an evening competition at Acme Comedy Club in Minneapolis. Find more at www.garydop.com.
