Red Mountain Reading Series 2018 Javacia Harris Bowser

javaciaThe Red Mountain Reading Series will present Javacia Harris Bowser at the Shelby-Hoover Campus on Tuesday, March 6. She will host a reading 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Health Sciences Building multi-purpose room and a workshop 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. in Health Sciences Building 156.

Javacia Harris Bowser is a writer, educator, and entrepreneur based in Birmingham, and the founder and president of See Jane Write, a membership organization and website for women who write and blog. A professionally trained journalist, Bowser has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of California at Berkeley. She worked for several years for the Courier-Journal in Louisville, Kentucky before returning to her hometown of Birmingham in 2009 to teach at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, where she teaches English and has created an elective called Women and the Media.

Bowser continues her professional writing career as a freelance journalist, columnist, and blogger. She has written for Birmingham magazine, USA Today, Birmingham’s NPR affiliate WBHM 90.3 FM, and a number of other media outlets. She writes a monthly column for B-Metro magazine and is a regular contributor to StyleBlueprint Birmingham.
