Rhetoric is the art of communication. Oftentimes, verbal communication is supplemented with images, sound, or other sensory elements to embellish the message. Visual rhetoric, specifically, is the effective use of visual elements such as images, typography, and text in relaying a message.
This semester’s museum delves into the use of visual rhetoric in art, biology, culinary arts, film, history, literature, and math. We invite you to join JSCC students and instructors in exploring ways in which imagery can shape and communicate our understanding of the world around us.
