The LGBTQ 101 and Allyship Workshop trains faculty and staff from high schools around the state to assist students who are being bullied because they identify as part of the LGBTQ community. The workshop is being brought to Jefferson State by JSCC’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the Greater Birmingham Community Foundation LGBTQ Fund, and the Magic City Acceptance Center. Topics include definitions, terminology, best practices for working effectively with the LGBTQ community, allyship, and a brief overview of local and national LGBTQ resources like the The Trevor Project.
