Outgoing/Transfer Students

The University of Alabama is seeking nominations for the Presidential Transfer Scholarship to be provided to outstanding Jefferson State Community College transfer students for the 2024-2025 academic year.  The scholarship will cover the cost of tuition for four semesters, provided that the student adheres to the UA stewardship requirements.  A nominee will be selected from each campus location.

To be considered, students must meet the following criteria: 

  1. The student must have earned at least 45 transferable credit hours towards their associate degree by the completion of the fall 2023 semester.
  2. Complete the Jefferson State Community College Transfer Scholarship Packet, which includes the application, resume, essay, UA acceptance letter, and recommendation.
  3. The student must have a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher by the completion of the fall 2023 semester.
  4. The student must be admitted to the University of Alabama at the time the scholarship application is submitted.
  5. The student cannot be a former degree seeking student from UA or any other 4-year institution.
  6. The student must be an Alabama resident.

university seal 1 UAB Presidential Scholarships

Outgoing/Transfer Students

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking nominations for the UAB Presidential Scholarship to begin the 2024-2025 academic year. The scholarship will provide $6,000 per semester for four semesters (fall and spring only; $12,000 per academic year) and is renewable annually for two years provided that the student maintains a 3.0 or higher GPA.

To apply applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  1. The student must apply and be admitted as a transfer student to UAB for the upcoming fall term by the application deadline. High school students who are enrolled in a fast-track or dual-enrollment program are not eligible.
  2. The student must have earned a minimum of 45 transferable credit hours by the end of the fall 2023 semester.
  3. Complete the Jefferson State Community College Transfer Scholarship Packet, which includes the application, resume, essay, UAB acceptance letter, and recommendation.
  4. The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (non-transferrable coursework will not be calculated in the GPA).
  5. The student cannot have any 4-year institution credit. (exception: courses taken while enrolled in high school)
  6. The student cannot be a former degree-seeking student from UAB.
  7. The student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to receive this award.
  8. The student must be willing to assist with transfer recruitment events and efforts as a transfer ambassador for UAB. (event examples: campus tours, student panels, community college visits, Transfer Day at UAB)

Awarded: Beginning in December
Amount: $10,000 over two years ($5,000 per year) for incoming transfer students

Ever to Conquer Scholarships are awarded competitively among eligible incoming Alabama residents who complete the scholarship application through AUSOM by 4:45 p.m. CST on the deadline, based on available funding.  Consideration does not guarantee a scholarship will be awarded. (checklist)

  • Incoming transfer students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative transfer GPA.
  • Priority consideration will be given to students who qualify for the Federal Pell Grant by the deadline through completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)*.  Additional consideration will be given to students who are first-generation college students.
  • Students must be an undergraduate student pursuing a first degree.

*The FAFSA is the only form a student is required to complete to be considered for student assistance from any of the Title IV, HEA programs except for information needed to ensure the student’s eligibility for such assistance (e.g., information needed to complete verification or to demonstrate compliance with the student eligibility provisions of the HEA and the regulations). Additional information, if requested, will be listed on the student’s AU Access My Finances page after we receive the results of the FAFSA. Awarded: Beginning in December
Amount: $4,000 over two years ($2,000 per year) for incoming transfer students

The Provost Leadership Undergraduate Scholarship for incoming transfer students (PLUS-T) is awarded to eligible incoming transfer students.

PLUS-T scholarships are awarded among eligible incoming students who complete the scholarship application through AUSOM by 4:45 p.m. CST on the deadline, including a 300-400 word diversity essay.  Recipients are selected by the Provost Leadership Undergraduate Scholarship Committee.   • Incoming transfer students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative transfer GPA for PLUS-T.
  • Priority consideration will be given to students who are first-generation college students, demonstrate financial need, are Alabama residents, and have a diverse background as determined by the goals of the Auburn University Strategic Plan. Additional consideration will be given to students who qualify for the Federal Pell Grant by the deadline through completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)*,
  • Students must be an undergraduate student pursuing a first degree.
